What is the meaning of sex? Sure, we can answer that generally. God designed sex to express and cultivate exclusive intimacy between husband and wife and to produce children from time to time. Oh, and it’s supposed to feel goooood. But what does sex mean to you? That is, when you think about sex, what words or feelings come to mind? Excitement? Pressure? Acceptance? Conflict? Intimacy?

A discipline, or in our case “spiritual discipline,” is a training activity that helps to shape and mold character over an extended period of time that accelerates and focuses the process. Spiritual discipline is the”strict training” that Paul was talking about 1 Corinthians 9:25.

Build on What Is Working in Your Sexual Intimacy. I also, though, think it is vitally important to build on what is already working sexually in your relationship. It can become overwhelming and heavy to focus only on what is skewed or broken, so by all means, show yourself and your spouse some grace and affirmation on what the two of you do well when you’re naked with each other.
I’d put the need for “me” time in that category. I imagine you needed alone time when you were a little girl, and when you were in high school, and at every point along the way before you were married. That’s how God made you. And moving into a committed relationship with your husband doesn’t change the way God made you.

The car needs new tires, the teenager needs braces, the house needs a new roof—and just like that, saving money takes a back seat to life stuff. So you put it off. Epiphany, in the Western church, is celebrated on January 6, completing the 12 days of Christmas. Traditionally Epiphany marks the visit of the Magi recorded in Matthew 2:1–12. (In the Eastern church, Epiphany is also an observance of the Baptism of Jesus and the revelation of the Trinity.) The wise men—Gentiles from another culture—recognized Jesus’ kingship and bowed before him in worship. Well before Paul’s teachings in the Epistles or Peter’s vision (Acts 10), this event conveys a truth of great theological significance: The gospel is also for the Gentiles and, indeed, for the whole world.
