Betty Squier Obituary and Details

Betty Joan Squier (née Brown), 76, of Fraser, Michigan rejoined the Lord on Thursday, July 27th, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, children, grandchildren, and friends as she parted to the sound of her loved ones singing to her in unison.

The last of eight children born to Louise and Herman Brown in Fort Wayne Indiana, Betty’s family relocated to the Metro Detroit area when she was a child. She grew up in Highland Park and as a young woman met the love of her life, Mark, while on a trip with friends to Toledo, Ohio. Married in 1967, they would go on to have five children, the youngest of whom was obviously the best, prompting them to refrain from having any more.

Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and a friend to so many, Betty’s devotion to others was ever apparent in the care and generosity she demonstrated alongside Mark as they volunteered with the Retrouvaille program. She and Mark played integral roles in establishing Retrouvaille of Metro Detroit, which has served more than 6,000 couples since 1991, and worked tirelessly in several leadership positions and program capacities to save marriages and families in local, regional, and international communities.

A lifelong lover of music, dancing, arts, crafts, nature, and animals, Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures, whether hosting family for the Holidays, spending time with her grandkids, frequenting the local movie theater, going for walks, and holding hands with Mark. She may be best remembered for her contagious smile, always on display upon arriving into every room she entered.

Survived by her husband of 56 years, Mark; their children, Renée, Robert, David, Marcia, and Michael; and 11 grandchildren… Betty will be forever missed, but will never be far from our hearts.

A visitation for Betty will be held Friday, August 18, 2023 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at Kaul Funeral Home – 27830 Gratiot Ave, Roseville, MI 48066) – with a scripture service and open eulogy at 6:00pm. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00amSaturday, August 19, 2023 at Saint Margaret of Scotland – 21201 E 13 Mile Rd, St Clair Shores, MI 48082 – with a viewing at the church from 9:00am until the service begins, and followed by a luncheon at Lakeland Manor – 26211 Harper Ave, St Clair Shores, MI 48081.

Rather than flowers, Betty asked that donations be made to Retrouvaille of Metro Detroit on her behalf.
