Marriage Program Comparison

Every marriage faces unique struggles and has unique needs. The issues you are facing, along with your personality profiles, will determine whether a 1–1 or group-based approach is best for you.

Retrouvaille Marriage Ministry (est. 1977)

Our primary goal is to provide help for couples who live in the disappointment and pain of marriage problems. Retrouvaille is a 3 phase program. First, a Weekend to build Communication and Hope. Afterwards series of follow-up sessions is the next important phase of the Retrouvaille healing process. The hurt and pain of a struggling marriage cannot be healed in a single weekend experience. The final phase is an optional but recommended monthly small-group support meeting, called CORE (Continuing Our Retrouvaille Experience). It allows for a casual and supportive interaction with other couples who have attended the Retrouvaille program.

Our goal is to save struggling marriges

The Retrouvaille weekend provides a safe setting encouraging couples to learn communication in marriage in a respectful manner. The post-weekend phase of the Retrouvaille program is as critical to a couple experiencing marital problems as the initial weekend experience. We know that the degree of disappointment, deterioration and despair in hurting marriages cannot be healed in one weekend. Restoration takes time. The post-weekend sessions provide support as couples discuss concepts of the importance of communication in marriage, intimacy, handling conflict, and many other topics.

The final phase of the program, CORE (Continuing Our Retrouvaille Experience) allows for casual supportive small group meetings each month to continue to reinforce the communication tools learned on the weekend as couples continue to heal their marriages.

$400/couple + Optional Free Will Donation (PRICE INCLUDES LODGING AND MEALS.)

Staff Credentials:

The members of the presenting team are not professional speakers, marriage therapists, or counselors, but are people who previously experienced the Retrouvaille weekend themselves. They give a specific series of presentations that are not meant to be lectures or teachings, but rather informational sharing centered around their personal experiences. They share their experiences of disillusionment and misery, as well as the tools they used to change their marriages. Time for personal reflection and private couple communication or dialogue follows most presentations, not with the teams or other couples, but between you and your spouse. The weekend process centers around open and honest communication, which occurs privately between spouses in their own room. There is no group sharing required, other than a brief personal introduction at the beginning of the weekend.

The presenting teams, through sharing the tools that have worked for them and how their relationships have grown, understand that no marriage is exactly alike. Therefore, the teams will share what they have learned and challenge couples to learn how to utilize the tools to improve their own marriages. All involved are 100% unpaid volunteers. All team members, both couples and clergy, believe in God and his desire and power to heal and resurrect marriages. Though many denominations are represented, including Catholic and Protestant, all team members share a Christian faith, although the program is focused on marriage, not religious doctrine. It is beneficial to couples of all faiths or no faith at all.
